Save a local working copy
- Save the arrangement as a named view if you want to preserve its positions.
- Choose Menu → Download JSON, or Download Excel for a workbook.
- Keep the resulting file in your chosen project folder. Reopen it to verify the save.
Ctrl+S (Command+S on macOS) saves through the current model destination when there are unsaved changes. For a local model, this downloads a copy; for a GitHub-backed model it opens the repository-save workflow. It does not silently write back to any local file you opened.
Two kinds of unsaved change
The model title and layout controls indicate model and position changes. Saving a view updates the in-memory model. Save/download the model afterwards to keep it outside the browser session.
Before opening another model
If prompted, choose the appropriate save/download action, Discard changes or Cancel. Cancel keeps you in the current model. Discard deliberately abandons unsaved edits. Do not assume closing the browser tab will preserve your session.
GitHub and backup downloads
A GitHub model remains associated with its repository path. A Download JSON backup does not commit changes to that path. Use the GitHub save command for a repository update; keep the local copy if resolving a conflict.
Recover
Look in your download folder for the latest saved file. For GitHub, inspect the repository history and reopen the desired version through your normal repository workflow. If all you have is an unsaved browser session, avoid refreshing it; download a copy first. Revelation does not promise a persistent recovery copy of every unsaved session.
