Export a model or a view

Take a diagram into a presentation, share its data or keep an editable copy for your next session.

Revelation: these download/export commands are in its Menu. The Revelation for Confluence editor uses Save to page and does not expose this Download group.

Choose the output

CommandUse it for
Download JSONAn editable Revelation model with its views and settings. Keep this as a working copy.
Download ExcelA data workbook for spreadsheet-based inspection and editing. Reopen it to check the fields you need.
Download SVGA vector image of the diagram for documents or presentations. It is not a replacement for the editable model.
Export view as Mermaid / PlantUML…A supported text representation of the view on screen.

Export diagram text

  1. Select the view to export.
  2. Choose Menu → Export view as Mermaid / PlantUML….
  3. Choose one of the formats offered for this model type and inspect the preview.
  4. Review any type-loss message. Enable round-trip annotations if the file will return to Revelation and those comments suit your workflow.
  5. Copy or download the text. For supported PlantUML exports, the Every view option writes separate blocks.

The selected view determines which elements and relationships are exported, including relationships derived for that view. A text export is not necessarily a full archive of all model data.

Format choices

Mermaid supports sequence, flowchart, ER and C4 routes. PlantUML supports sequence, C4 and ArchiMate routes. BPMN Lite has no BPMN XML export in this workflow. A missing format in the chooser is not fixed by changing the file extension.

Save positions first

Resolve any view-save prompt before exporting the model. After downloading, open the file you intend to keep and check its content. Browser downloads normally create a new file instead of overwriting your original.

From Confluence

Obtain the model JSON through the page's attachment controls, subject to permissions, and open it in Revelation to use these export routes. Keep a copy before replacing a page attachment with a converted model.
